2019 VW Golf GTI Earns Safety Rating from IIHS
One of the many reasons we’re so proud to be your local Lynbrook, NY VW dealer is that there’s always great news to share about the VW brand and its lineup. As we have quite often in the past, we’re excited to share wonderful news about one of the cars in our new car inventory, the 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI.
We’re thrilled to tell you that the new VW Golf GTI earned the Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The TSP rating is the second highest mark the IIHS hands out. When an automobile earns the score of TSP, it means the car is one of the safest automobiles in its class.
To earn the Top Safety Pick rating, a vehicle must
- Get a rating of good in multiple crashworthiness tests
- Be given the score of acceptable or good in the passenger-side small overlap front test
- Earn the mark of advanced or superior for its frontal crash mitigation system
- Get a score of acceptable or good for its headlights
In addition to being known as a safe vehicle, the 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI is also widely recognized as a fun-to-drive, well-equipped hatchback. For the 2019 model year, the VW Golf GTI is offered in four trims: S, Rabbit, SE, and Autobahn. Every trim is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The car’s engine can be matched with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission.
While the higher trims have even more standard features, the S model still has plenty of sought-after standard features. The S trim’s features include Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, a blind spot monitor that has a rear cross-traffic alert, and a touchscreen, to name just a few.
